JennAir Appliance Repair in Portland, Oregon
JennAir, written Jenn-Air on older appliances, is the brand of the downdraft range: a cooktop that pulls its smoke down through the counter and not up into a hood. Mend My Appliance repairs JennAir ranges, cooktops, ovens, built-in refrigerators and dishwashers at home across the Portland metro area.
We are an independent service, not a part of JennAir. You get the diagnosis and the price before any repair begins.
JennAir downdraft ranges and cooktops
Gas, electric and induction cooktops and ranges with the fan in the middle of the top or behind it. When the downdraft stops pulling, the causes are few: a grease filter that is full, a blower motor that has failed or become loud, a switch that no longer starts it, or a duct that has come apart or filled with grease under the floor.
What we repair
- Downdraft blower motors and fan switches
- Grease filters and vent chambers
- Surface elements, burners, igniters and switches
- Induction zones and their controls
- Control boards and touch panels
JennAir wall ovens and ranges
Single and double wall ovens and ranges: no heat or slow preheating, an error code that begins with F, a door that stays locked after self-clean, a touch panel that does not answer or answers by itself.
JennAir built-in refrigerators
Built-in and column refrigerators and freezers. A unit that runs warm (the condenser first), an ice maker that has stopped, water under the drawers, a door that does not seal. Compressor and sealed-system work is done in place.
JennAir dishwashers
A dishwasher that leaves water in the tub, leaks at the door, washes badly or stops with the lights blinking.
Common JennAir problems
The downdraft fan does not turn on
The switch, the blower motor or its wiring. If the fan hums and does not turn, the motor is seized.
The downdraft is loud, or pulls weakly
A filter loaded with grease, a blower wheel out of balance, or a duct that is blocked or has come loose.
A burner or an element does not heat
On gas, an igniter or a switch; on electric, a surface element or the switch behind its knob; on induction, the zone or its power board.
The oven shows an F code
A sensor, a door lock or the control. Write the code down before you switch the breaker off and on.
A part is no longer made
JennAir belongs to Whirlpool and shares many parts with its other brands, so most parts are found. For some older downdraft ranges a part is no longer made; we tell you before any work when that is the case.
If you smell gas
If you smell gas, do not light anything and do not touch a switch. Leave the home and call your gas utility or 911 from outside.
JennAir's own warranty
If your appliance is only a few years old, check JennAir's warranty first. A repair that is still covered is JennAir's to arrange through its own service network, which we are not part of. We do not do warranty repairs on JennAir's behalf, and we will tell you when a repair looks covered.
Finding the model and serial number
On a range or a cooktop it is under the top or inside the storage drawer opening; on an oven or a dishwasher, on the frame inside the door; on a refrigerator, inside on a side wall. Have the numbers ready when you book: parts are ordered by them.
How a JennAir repair visit works
- Book online: choose the appliance, describe the problem and pick up to three times that suit you.
- We confirm one of your times by phone or text. You are not booked until we do.
- We come to your home, test the appliance and find the cause.
- You get the price before any repair begins. We repair it with your approval; if a part has to be ordered, we come back to fit it.
The diagnostic visit costs $90. If you go ahead with the repair, the $90 is applied toward it; if you decide not to repair, the $90 covers the diagnosis.
Our work and the parts we install carry a 90-day warranty. The terms are printed on your invoice.
Where we work
We come to homes across the Portland metro area in Oregon, among them Portland, Beaverton, Hillsboro, Tigard, Tualatin and Lake Oswego. Enter your ZIP code when you book and the form checks it right away.
