Dishwasher Repair in Portland, Oregon
Standing water in the bottom, dishes that come out dirty, a leak across the kitchen floor: Mend My Appliance repairs built-in dishwashers at home across the Portland metro area.
We find the cause, tell you the price before any repair begins, and repair the common brands as well as panel-ready and premium models.
Dishwasher problems we fix
Not draining
A clogged filter, a drain pump blocked by glass or a seed, a kinked hose or a blocked air gap. After a new garbage disposal is installed, the knockout plug left in the disposal inlet is a common cause.
What to check first: not draining
Dishes come out dirty or gritty
Blocked spray arms, a circulation pump that has lost pressure, water that is not hot enough, or a detergent dispenser that does not open.
Leaking
A door gasket, a pump seal, a cracked hose, or too many suds from the wrong detergent. A float switch that sticks lets the tub overfill.
Will not start
A door latch that does not report "closed", a control board, a thermal fuse, or a control lock that was switched on by accident.
Dishes stay wet
A heating element or a drying fan, no rinse aid, or a vent that does not open at the end of the cycle.
Loud grinding or humming
Something hard in the drain pump or the chopper, or a wash motor that is wearing out.
An error code or blinking lights
Most codes report a symptom: water did not arrive, did not heat or did not drain. We test that circuit to find which part caused it.

How a dishwasher repair visit works
- Book online: choose the appliance, describe the problem and pick up to three times that suit you.
- We confirm one of your times by phone or text. You are not booked until we do.
- We come to your home, test the dishwasher and find the cause.
- You get the price before any repair begins. We repair it with your approval; if a part has to be ordered, we come back to fit it.
The diagnostic visit costs $90. If you go ahead with the repair, the $90 is applied toward it; if you decide not to repair, the $90 covers the diagnosis.
Our work and the parts we install carry a 90-day warranty. The terms are printed on your invoice.
Dishwasher brands we repair
Samsung, LG, Whirlpool, GE, Frigidaire, Maytag, KitchenAid, Bosch, Electrolux, Viking, Miele, Monogram, Thermador, JennAir, Kenmore, Amana, GE Profile, Café, Fisher & Paykel, Dacor, Hotpoint, Asko, Bertazzoni, Smeg, Cove and Gaggenau. If your brand is not in the list, ask: most dishwashers share their parts and their faults.
Before the visit
- Do not bail the water out unless it is about to overflow: the level tells us where the fault is.
- Turn off the water valve under the sink if the dishwasher is leaking.
- Note the error code or which lights blink.

Repair the dishwasher or replace it?
It depends on the age of the dishwasher, the cost of the part and what a comparable new one costs. After the diagnosis you have the numbers for your machine, and the decision is yours.
