Miele builds dishwashers and laundry machines to run for a very long time, and they are worth repairing when something stops. Mend My Appliance repairs Miele dishwashers, washers, dryers and kitchen appliances at home across the Portland metro area.

Miele dishwashers
Built-in and panel-ready dishwashers of every generation. They report their own faults in words: "Intake/Drain" means water is not arriving or not leaving; "Waterproof" means water has reached the base pan and the machine has shut itself down against a flood.

Miele washers
Compact front-load washers. The usual faults: a door that does not lock or does not release, a drain fault, a drum that does not turn, a leak at the door seal or the dispenser, a machine that stops with a fault message in the middle of a cycle.
Miele dryers
Vented, condenser and heat-pump dryers. A heat-pump dryer dries at a lower temperature and takes longer by design; when cycles grow much longer than they were, the filters in the door and in the base and the heat exchanger behind them are the first place to look.
Miele ovens, ranges and cooktops
Wall ovens, steam ovens and speed ovens, ranges, and gas and induction cooktops: an oven that does not heat or stops short of its temperature, a steam oven that asks to be descaled and will not go on, a touch control that does not answer, an induction zone that shuts off.
Miele refrigerators
Built-in column refrigerators, freezers and wine units. A unit that runs warm, an ice maker that has stopped, a door alarm that will not clear.
Common Miele problems
The dishwasher shows "Waterproof"
Water has collected in the base pan and lifted the float switch. The leak has to be found (a pump seal, a hose, a door seal) before the message will clear.
The dishwasher shows "Intake/Drain"
First the things you can reach: the water valve open, the filters in the tub clean, the drain hose free of kinks. If the message returns, the inlet valve or a pump has failed.
The washer does not drain, or stops with a drain fault
Something small in the drain pump filter, a kinked hose, or a pump that has worn out.
The dryer takes much longer than it used to
Lint in the filters and on the heat exchanger of a heat-pump or condenser dryer; a restricted duct on a vented one.
A fault code, or a message that returns after a restart
The control has recorded what it saw. Write the message down before you switch the machine off.
When a repair may need Miele
Some work on a Miele appliance may have to go to Miele itself or to its own service network: a repair under Miele's warranty, a software update, the setup of a replacement control, or another procedure that calls for Miele's own service tools. Which jobs these are depends on the model. If your repair turns out to be one of them, we tell you after the diagnosis and point you to Miele, and we do not guess.
Parts for Miele appliances are ordered by model and serial number and often take several days to arrive, so a second visit is common.
If you smell gas
If you smell gas, do not light anything and do not touch a switch. Leave the home and call your gas utility or 911 from outside.
Miele's own warranty
If your appliance is only a few years old, check Miele's warranty first. A repair that is still covered is Miele's to arrange through its own service network, which we are not part of. We do not do warranty repairs on Miele's behalf, and we will tell you when a repair looks covered.
Finding the model and serial number
On a dishwasher it is on the edge of the door or the frame; on a washer or a dryer, inside the door opening or behind the flap at the bottom; on an oven, on the frame behind the door. Have the numbers ready when you book: parts are ordered by them.
How a Miele repair visit works
- Book online: choose the appliance, describe the problem and pick up to three times that suit you.
- We confirm one of your times by phone or text. You are not booked until we do.
- We come to your home, test the appliance and find the cause.
- You get the price before any repair begins. We repair it with your approval; if a part has to be ordered, we come back to fit it.
The diagnostic visit costs $90. If you go ahead with the repair, the $90 is applied toward it; if you decide not to repair, the $90 covers the diagnosis.
Our work and the parts we install carry a 90-day warranty. The terms are printed on your invoice.
