Viking Range and Appliance Repair in Portland, Oregon

Viking brought the restaurant range into the home kitchen, and many of those ranges are still cooking. Mend My Appliance repairs Viking ranges, ovens, built-in refrigerators and dishwashers at home across the Portland metro area.

We are an independent service, not a part of Viking. You get the diagnosis and the price before any repair begins.

  • Door hinges, gaskets and handles
  • Knobs, bezels and control boards

Stove & range repair

Viking wall ovens

Single and double wall ovens, among them the models with French doors: no heat or slow preheating, a temperature that runs off, a door that does not close square, a control panel that has gone dark.

Oven repair

Viking built-in refrigerators

Built-in side-by-side, bottom-freezer and column refrigerators. The first suspect when one runs warm is the condenser behind the grille, then the fans and the defrost system. When the cold-making system itself has failed, the compressor or another part of the sealed system is replaced in place.

Viking dishwashers and ventilation

Dishwashers that do not drain, leak or stop in the middle of a cycle; range hoods with a blower, lights or controls that have stopped.

Common Viking problems

Burners click and do not light, or all of them spark at once

A wet or shorted burner switch, a cracked igniter, blocked ports or a failing spark module. On many ranges all the igniters spark together by design; they should stop once the flame is lit.

The gas oven does not heat

Most often the oven igniter: it glows, but too weakly to open the gas valve, so no flame follows.

The oven door drops, sags or will not stay shut

Worn door hinges. The doors are heavy, and a tired hinge lets the heat out and can let the door fall open.

The broiler does not light

The broiler has an igniter of its own, and it fails the same way as the one in the oven.

A built-in refrigerator is warm in one section

A fan, the defrost system or a damper on that side; if everything runs and it is still warm, the sealed system.

If you smell gas

If you smell gas, do not light anything and do not touch a switch. Leave the home and call your gas utility or 911 from outside.

Viking's own warranty

If your appliance is only a few years old, check Viking's warranty first. A repair that is still covered is Viking's to arrange through its own service network, which we are not part of. We do not do warranty repairs on Viking's behalf, and we will tell you when a repair looks covered.

Finding the model and serial number

On a range it is behind the kick panel or under the control panel; on a refrigerator, inside on the ceiling or a side wall. Have the numbers ready when you book: parts are ordered by them.

How a Viking repair visit works

  • Book online: choose the appliance, describe the problem and pick up to three times that suit you.
  • We confirm one of your times by phone or text. You are not booked until we do.
  • We come to your home, test the appliance and find the cause.
  • You get the price before any repair begins. We repair it with your approval; if a part has to be ordered, we come back to fit it.

The diagnostic visit costs $90. If you go ahead with the repair, the $90 is applied toward it; if you decide not to repair, the $90 covers the diagnosis.

Our work and the parts we install carry a 90-day warranty. The terms are printed on your invoice.
